It were DePaul University students, in the tradition of the Free Speech Movement and Students for a Democratic Society, that galvanised and propelled the staging of this event on the campus of the University of Chicago. They are serving notice to other campuses throughout the Chicagoland area and beyond that the student voice is not merely as cheerleader or wave at an athletic event but has a more serious purpose: to demand a quality education by insisting upon critical thinking and academic freedom for their professors and themselves.
